Julie was born and raised in Leigh on Sea. and only returned to painting in 2018 having turned down a place at Southend art college in the 1970's. Taking advantage of all the online art education has allowed Julie to explore and learn in her own time albeit around a full time job. She loves creating work that lifts the spirit and is particularly drawn to nature and marine topics. She hasn't found her niche yet but is loving exploring different mediums and styles. Julie likes to think of her work as 'wellbeing on the wall' and hopes her work brings a smile to other people's faces.
Julie's first exhibition in January of 2020 resulted in 25 of the 30 pieces she exhibited. being sold.
In September 2020 Julie will be announced as an associate artist for Unison Colour, the UK's premier soft pastel manufacturer.
Julie also loves to teach and has enjoyed runing successful workshops this year locally at various locations including Create98 in Leigh on Sea, teaching her signature soft pastel seascape paintings which can be viewed at https://www.julieswanart.co.uk.
