I have not had any formal art tuition other than a weekly lesson when I was at Westcliff High School for Girls back in the late forties but after my husband sadly died in 2015 my daughter Sharon kept suggesting I joined her art classes.

At first I thought it a silly idea - I find drawing and perspective very difficult although I love the use of colour especially in nature.

Eventually, I gave in and have not regretted it for one moment.  It has opened up an exciting new world for me.  I have found enormous pleasure learning to use colour and experimenting with different paints and techniques.

Also I have me numerous interesting people, visited galleries and exhibitions, joined Southend Art Club, and made many new friends.  I thoroughly recommend it as an absorbing hobby whatever your ability.
