Canvas Preparation by Diane East

Diane's preparation of her canvases is quite a messy process - so a visit to her studio captured some of it. Music helps Diane to enjoy the process of playing with the sand and glue texture that is created and she keeps moving around the large canvas - adding and removing the materials - checking the history that the sand is making to the surface. This process could last up to 2hrs, Diane said, before she settles on a pleasing result. Examples of her work can be seen on Saturday - quite a fascinating array of materials, colours and mediums.
