The Watermill at Posara, a centre for creative courses in Tuscany, Italy, has teamed up with inspiring English painting tutor Mike Willdridge, to produce an ongoing series of free, interactive, online painting sessions. These have already proved extremely popular with our guests and they are creating a real sense of international community in these difficult times. Our guests have called them ‘morale boosting’ and ‘a wonderful distraction’. You can see the latest reactions on our blog at http://www.watermill.uk.net/blog/?p=20255.
The next session, an autumn scene with a couple walking a dog, will take place on Zoom on Thursday, 12 November. As usual it will start at 2:30pm (UK time).
Mike’s inspiring sessions are designed to help you brush up your painting skills. Unlike many online painting programmes, Mike’s will not expect you to ‘look over his shoulder’ for a long demonstration, and perhaps be allowed to ask the odd question or two. No, you will be painting along at more or less the same time, trying out the watercolour techniques that Mike has shown you, step-by-step. He will demonstrate some basic techniques for only a few minutes before you start painting the same subject at home. Then, after you have had your turn, Mike will move onto the next part of the process. I will be on hand to feed your questions. The session will last a couple of hours.
Before each session Mike supplies a photograph and, if appropriate, a drawing of what is going to be painted, and a list of equipment and colours for your palette. We will send these beforehand to all the participants in the session. After the session we will send you a link that will enable to you revisit Mike’s step-by-step teaching.
Each of your members needs to register with me to enter the Zoom session and to gain access to the video which we make available afterwards. Please register by using the Watermill contact form, which you can find at https://watermill.net/painting-holidays/painting-holidays-online-courses.php.
